Lee's Summit gets national recognition as Bicycle Friendly Community

Congratulations to the City of Lee's Summit for being recognized today as a Bronze Level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists. This coveted designation honors cities that provide facilities, policies, and programs to support people who bike for transportation, recreation, and fitness.

Lee's Summit has become a regional leader with the metro's first Complete Streets policy, a growing greenway trail network, and a new bicycle transportation plan. The city joins Shawnee and KCMO as the region's third Bike Friendly Community. Lee's Summit is also the first and only regional city to achieve national recognition as a Walk Friendly Community.

Today's recognition is the culmination of several years of hard work by elected officials, city staff, the Livable Streets Lee's Summit advisory board, and a dedicated group of tireless local advocates.

Here is the full list of Bicycle Friendly Communities announced today.
