KC Downtown Streetcar construction doesn't begin in earnest until 2014, but the City has already installed the first piece of track on the newly-replaced Main Street bridge over I-670 (South Loop). This is a great opportunity for cyclists to get some practice riding with streetcar tracks.
Due to cold temperatures and forecasted snowfall, Jackson County Parks & Recreation has postponed Saturdy's midnight bike ride through Christmas in the Park.
Due to the extreme temperatures and potential precipitation forecasted for Saturday, December 7th, into Sunday, December 8th, the MIDNIGHT BIKE RIDE thru Jackson County’s CHRISTMAS IN THE PARK is being postponed to next Friday, December 13th, into Saturday, December 14th. Check-in will begin at 11 pm, Friday, December 13th, with the four-mile ride starting at 12:15 am.

The last phase of the Troost Avenue bridge replacement over Brush Creek is almost finished, finally filling a big gap in the Brush Creek Trail. The trail is now completely separated from the street from the Madison Avenue on the Country Club Plaza all the way to Elmwood Avenue on the East Side.

The Broadway Bridge is the next Missouri River bridge due for replacement. If you drive over this bridge, you have probably seen people walking on this bridge - despite the fact that there is no safe place to walk. People walk on the very narrow median between four lanes of high speed traffic, or against the outer barrier high above the Missouri River.
