BikeWalkKC’s education and outreach coordinator, Laura Steele, has been selected to participate in the new class of the Healthy Communities Leadership Academy, a program of the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City. In her role as education and outreach coordinator, Laura keeps the day-to-day operations of our adult and youth education programs rolling smoothly, including coordinating with dozens of schools and teachers across the metro area. She is also heavily involved with our Women Bike KC initiative, is Licensed Cycling Instructor, and a frequent bike commuter. Laura is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia and resides with her family of cyclists in Roeland Park, KS, where she is a member of the city’s Sustainability Committee.
Laura is the fourth BikeWalkKC staffer to be selected for the program. The Academy’s workshops, active learning sessions, individual coaching, and mentorship will broaden Laura’s professional network and enable her to apply the expanded knowledge she gains to her work at BikeWalkKC. We are thrilled with her selection and thank the HCF for its ongoing commitment to building the leadership capacity of the organizations it supports.
