Support walking and biking to school in KC Public Schools’ master plan

Kansas City Public Schools are creating a new facilities master plan, including future school sites and potential changes to school attendance areas. This process provides a great opportunity to include walking and biking in the district’s long range planning.

We encourage all parents and community members to attend the public meetings and let school officials know that you want your children to be able to walk or bike to a local school safely and easily. There are some very specific things you can request to make a big difference:

  • Siting new schools near residential areas
  • Creating compact attendance areas
  • Aligning boundaries with physical barriers like busy streets, rail lines, etc.

Next public meetings:

January 14th, 2014, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
Paseo Academy, 4747 Flora

January 16th, 2014, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM
Manual Career and Technical Center, 1215 E. Truman Rd.
